Finding The Light was first brought to life on the grounds of Black Rock City, home of the yearly arts festival Burning Man. After his two previous large-scale art pieces in the past decade, we set out to make our biggest creation yet.

Standing twenty feet at its highest point, Finding The Light is made of 4 separate structures. Each were carefully shaped from whole panels of quarter inch thick steel, cut and shaped to give the monolithic structure no visible breaks. The stained glass in each piece comes together in shadow to form the nave and aisles of a church. The piece itself holds no religious meaning, and with its lack of theistic ties the viewer is able to define it in their own light.

In its short week at Burning Man, Finding The Light became a wedding venue, a dance floor, an object of prayer, a rendezvous point, a tuning fork… the paths that this structure have been a part of are as limitless as the minds of those who have interacted with it.
